Excerpt of TDCJ Press release…
April 21, 2015 – Austin, TX- Martha “Marti” Martin of Frisco, Texas was presented the Sex Offender Rehabilitation Program Award during the Governor’s 2015 Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award program today.
The award was presented by Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Oliver Bell and TDCJ Executive Director Brad Livingston during a ceremony held in Austin.

“We’re grateful for the efforts of these award recipients,” said Livingston. “These everyday heroes are making a profound and lasting impact on the lives of individuals across the State of Texas.”
Ms. Martin suffered years of abuse as a child but in 1995 she experienced a change that delivered her from years of hopelessness. Since then she is better known for her humor and passion as she shares her spiritual walk by teaching and writing with those who have a desire to change their lives as sex offenders. She has plans to turn her prison presentation (“So Now What? Next Steps to Transformation”) into a workbook that sex offenders can use to further understand their actions, the consequences of those actions and to act as a source of encouragement to those who want to change. She believes that focusing her efforts on the offenders rather than their victims may begin to lessen the number of sexual abuse cases.
