I love great stories of victory and I always think of the Christmas story in that way because of the way Jesus came into the world. There was so much controversy around his birth that his parents had to flee to a place of safety until he was born. As they traveled the time was drawing near for the baby to be born and there was no place for them to go so they stopped at a manger where animals were kept and he was born there. Not a very fancy way for the King of Kings to come into the world. It didn’t look like he had much going for him. The first Christmas didn’t seem like much to celebrate. You may feel that way this Christmas it may the first Christmas that your spending without a loved one or struggling with finances from a lost job.
I want to encourage you that no matter how things appear to be at this moment, Jesus has a plan and a purpose that is specific for you. You may feel lonely, you may feel hopeless but don’t trust your feelings, trust in who Jesus is. Remember Jesus came to this earth for a great purpose and on that first Christmas it didn’t look like much. Think of things in your life that are working and that you can be grateful for and trust God to bring the rest into order. What you choose to cherish will dictate how you see your life. Cherish this time of year, its a great reminder of the gift of love that we celebrate through the birth of Christ. He loves you so much and he is your hope. He overcame great adversities to show us that we could too. Put your hope in him and trust him more than what you see or feel. Our life trauma only makes room for the great victory that God is going to bring. Take heart, He is faithful.
